Resting and Dreaming..

I just had to share the thought I had this morning… I may get more as I write but here’s how it all started..

My husband and I get to host a “care group” in our home and the theme of the group is “stiring up our gifts and realizing our dreams”.

We’ve had some really wonderful evenings of sharing and praying for each other and individuals who haven’t functioned in their gifting have been

encouraged to pray and begin to share what they see or hear in their spirit..

We also have some ‘veterans’ who have been used quite a bit over the years in the prophetic gifts and the words of knowledge.

Not to mention artists and people that just love to encourage and show mercy.. a welcome gift for most of us :0)

In our last care group, my husband Eric did some research on dreaming.

He covered every kind of dream from eating too much pizza to prophetic dreams and being shown details about the future before it happens.

We heard some amazing stories from people in our group who experienced that.

Next time we meet we will discuss “prophetic dreams” in more detail.  That’s going to be a blast!

So, this morning as I was pondering the whole gamut of dreams, it just occurred to me that one usually needs to be in a state of “REST” before dreaming..

Correct?

Wow! Then the 4th chapter in the book of Hebrews came to me and I looked it up… oh man.. it’s like I’ve never read it before.

The place of rest has been prepared for all of us.  We can’t dream or enter into the fulfillment of our dreams until we enter into rest and cease from our own labors and performance.

What is the REST of God anyway? Well, this chapter says that those who BELIEVE will enter or experience this rest..

So I said, “Believe what?” (the following is what I feel partially got answered)

That the REST of God is prepared and available. It sounds like the rest of God is contingent on my believing God

and my believing God is proven by my obedience to Him…

I don’t know about you but when I experience His unconditional love, mercy and grace…

I find myself wanting to obey Him.. Knowing that He did everything that needed to be done when He died on the cross.

I don’t have to “WORK” to be SAVED or LOVED and CHERISHED!!!

You know what’s funny? When I feel that kind of “Wonder Love”…

I WANT to serve God and give Him everything I’ve got because His awesome loving kindness is my energy and motivation.

Ok, now back to dreams..

I said all that to say, when we are (spiritually) in a deep REST… we can dream.  Our perspectives are usually the most clear when we are at peace, right?

If I’m stressed about a million things all at the same time, I often get irritable and my mindset can change and become annoyingly negative..

But when the world is at peace, I become more orderly and aligned with my spirit.  That is when I dream…

… and not only dream but the inspiration and creativity that flows from tranquil thinking happens quite naturally.. It’s how ideas ignite to make dreams a reality!

So, first believe and know there is a place of REST that has been ready and prepared for you since God made the world! Hebrews 4:3

Enter in… rest… dream… Remember Joseph? You never know what you might see!
